The model minority must not

About injustice

Lest we fall from grace

Blind, deaf, pandering to a society

That shuffles us to the side

And calls it freedom and equality

Has race become a sickness?

I don my mask when I go out

But I can’t mask my eyes, my face, the color of my skin

My last name

And I am afraid

Alienated by my alienness

Forever poised on the knife’s edge of

“China virus” has pathologized a people

As if a culture were contagious

As if simply trying to live my life was

An admission of guilt

This model minority myth has crumbled

Compliance will not protect us now

We cannot keep quiet anymore for

Fear of speaking out
